Wait! Don’t throw that away… You can compost more than you may realize.
Make sure you are aware of what is compostable; it will be your new hobby!
Anything that was once living can be added to your compost. More products these days are now compostable, such as corn-based spoons and straws.
Even this chip bag can be tossed in!
It will become more automatic to compost as you get used to it.
Bonus: Give your bulging garbage can a rest!
Don’t these homegrown organic blueberries look scrumptious?
Here are a few reasons to grow your own fruits and veggies, and why not go organic?
1. An average tomato plant costs about $1.50 and can yield around 12 pounds of tomatoes. The cost of heirloom tomatoes at a local summer market can be $2- $6 per pound. That saves you plenty, just on tomatoes!
2. By the time greens are shipped and sit on store shelves, their nutritional value is compromised. Imagine eating yours the day you pick them!
3. Organic gardening changes your mindset into one of re-purposing. A little homemade compost and a bit of elbow grease goes a long way for your grocery budget, your side dishes, and your general enjoyment.
